Energy can be produced using solar hot water systems, solar panels or biomass energy.
SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEMS- Solar hot water systems work when energy from the sun is absorbed by solar collectors. This energy is turned into heat and is used to warm your water. When the water is heated it is stored in insulated tanks until needed. This way of energy harnessing will make a home more efficient because it uses a natural source of energy to heat your water. Rather than the electric water heaters, solar hot water systems does not emit any waste. (Refer to figure 1)
SOLAR PANELS- A solar panel is made up of small solar cells. Each of these cells need light to make electrons move. Cells are made up of two layers, when light hits the first layer of electrons it jumps to the second layer. This will create a flow of energy. Solar panels will make a home more efficient because it doesn’t emit any wastes. Also, solar panels use a natural source of energy rather, than using non- renewable energy to make the electricity. (Refer to figure 2)
BIOMASS ENERGY- Biomass energy is the energy that comes from matter that is burnt. The matter that is burnt can be dead animals, plants, garbage, wood etc. The matter that is burnt will release energy which can turn a turbine to produce electricity. This way of harnessing energy is a renewable source of energy and it doesn’t contribute to global warming. It will make a home more efficient because it is not using coal to produce energy, and it produces less ash than the burning of coal.(Refer to figure 3)
